Sol, vind och lite vatten?

Ah, underbart.

Trist? Tjao.

Nu ska vi ata frukost.

Things that happen

The reason why I like travelling is that you can watch people and something funny always happens. This time, on the plane back to London City Airport, I was afraid I was going to be the main attraction, for all the wrong reasons. It was a rather small plane, with very little leg room (yes even for the normal sized people, not extra tall ones like me!), the plane was full of men in suits carrying briefcases looking like they'd had a long hard important meeting and just wanted to sleep on the plane. And then there was me! With a baby...carrying a huge changing bag filled to the brim with toys, baby milk, wipes and nappies. They took one look at me and probably thought: here we bloody go, that baby is going to scream all the way to London.

Because it was a smaller plane, the flight was going to take 2 hours 40 minutes...I was dreading it to be honest. The businessman next to me (well luckily there was a seat between us) looked over the moon with me sitting there...NOT. Before take off I unpacked the babymilk and a blanket and the dummy, ready to take on the worst. He just wanted to sleep the poor man, and sat there with his eyes closed. Ellen had other plans. She leaned towards him trying to get eyecontact (luckily he had his eyes closed and didn't see us) while doing her "bird-mouth" as I call it. She does this pouting thing when there's something she wants to "taste"...oh dear oh dear. Poor man I was thinking, he's got a long noisy flight ahead of him.
But no...she didn't scream, didn't cry...just took a bit of clever entertaining and my arm was digging around in the changing bag every 10 minutes for new and exciting toys. The best toy was the sick-bag. Just a tip for you future mums! And my arms took a battering for sure, my arms felt like jelly when I got back home. But we did it.

The only other person there without a suit (or a baby) was a big black guy, who looked just like he was from Da Ghetto and looked WELL 'ARD!!! But his scary, gangster image was short-lived. When he sat down in the seat in front of me, I saw that he had forgotten his price tag on his big cap! Haha, £10 Top Shop it said!!!
He then ordered a cup of tea, in his scary big guy voice...and then spilled the whole thing down his trousers and looked like a seat-wetter for the rest of the flight.
Yo yo yo.

I went to Tesco the other day. Love going now cause Ellen can sit in the "big" baby seat in the shopping trolley. She loves it. I grabbed a trolley, and as always when you get a few metres in to the shop you realise you've taken a trolley which has a wonky wheel or one that doesn't spin. This one had a wonky wheel, that didn't spin properly with a bit of plastic wrapped round it...hmmm...don't recommend this rare trolley.
It somehow got itself charged up off the floor, and everytime I touched the metal I got a huge static shock. The first two times, ok I thought I was dragging my feet along the floor so I started walking properly actually lifting my trainers off the floor, but after the 14th time and still getting electricuted, I was ready to leave the trolley in the middle of the shop and leave. But I managed to do my shopping (thankfully not that much to get) without touching the metal. A good game for you who want to try it. Its not as easy as you might think.

Going to make myself a Latte now as I've bought myself a lovely coffeemachine. It makes pretty much anything I think, apart from bread! Frothing milk and gorgeous espresso coffee. I have frothy milk with everything now!
Then we're watching Fifi and the flowerpot .....thingys

Sverige Sverige fosterland

Hejsan hejsan
Drar en svang pa svenska, sorry all englishspeakers...
Hade en uuuuunderbar semester i Sverige hos syrran, sen mor min, och sen hos pappa.
Traffade aven mina kusiner och morbror plus fruga. Jattetrevligt. Varenda minut.
Kunde verkligen slappna av och bara njuta. Ingen disk att diska, inga golv att dammsuga osv. Ahhhh.

More sleep!

She seems to have got it afterall. The sleep. A few nights later and she is sleeping like a "baby" again! Hurrah for her. And for me!

Now I've got a grinning little girl sitting in her playhoop on the floor. She is soo lovely when she's had enough sleep. Smiling and playing and no grotting at all.

Going to Coffee Lounge with Lisa and Kate today for some lunch. It gets kind of crowded with 3 prams round the table, haha. Will try to feed Ellen there, but I suspect it won't go very well, as she is very easily distracted.

Have started to pack, or at least dug out some things I am bringing to Sweden. The dogsitter is coming tomorrow nigh and we are leaving Friday morning at 0640 from here. The flight is about 9 I think. Will be interesting to see how Ellen finds the flight. I really hope everything goes well.

Gotta get dressed now.

What's so bloody funny at 6am

I think we're just going to have to realize our little girl doesn't like to sleep past 7. Not even 6 sometimes. Christ. She does sleep a lot better, without her dummy now and falls asleep perfectly at night. She doesn't eat during the night anymore. So that's all good.
Not so good is that she seems to wake at 5.30-6.00 in the morning and she's wide awake and does NOT stop crying until we get up. No chance to get her back to sleep and if we try to leave her in her cot, she just howls. Great. But as soon as she's up, she is the most happy baby going. Grinning like a nutter and everything is sooo hilarious. Me and Steve aren't as amused! ;)

But 10 minutes after I've got up, and got my morning-dose of her smile, I feel alright and she's all worth it again. Its just that 5.30-6.00 o'clock feeling when you KNOW she is awake and we've got no chance of sleeping more.

Phhhhhewwwww....yaaaawwwn.....siiiiiighhhh

This week I need to get myself a bigger suitcase, and get packing. Going home to Sweden for 11 days, hurrah. First my sisters and then up north to see the family. All of them! Cousins, grandma, uncles and aunties. Can't wait.

Got the builder in again today. He's going to put up another cupboard on the kitchen wall. So more space for me to fill with junk. Then tomorrow he's building us a bathroom door for our en-suite. That will be nice.

Right, time to watch "Babies loves babies" with Ellen. Its all basically babies doing baby-things on a DVD and she loves it. I just think all the babies are either ugly or annoying, or both. I shouldn't be allowed to be a mum. Baaad mum. But here we go, "Babies loves babies" it is.

Over and out, Rocketsnout

Baby Whisperer

Ellen went through the night last night...well apart from 5 minutes around 4am.
I am so unbelievably proud and happy, both of myself and of her.
7 pa kvallen till 7 pa morgonen !!! Tjiiiihoooooooooo!!!!

Just thought I'd do a little posting about my absolute hero - Tracy Hogg - aka The Baby Whisperer. Her book is so wonderful and has taught me so much.

So, finally a moment

The house is tidy, Elle is asleep and I have a lovely cup of coffee in my hand.
Feeling a bit tired as Ellen decided to scream her head off at 5am this morning. She cried for an hour, and I think there are some little teeth coming through. Or so I am hoping...

Dirty Dancing was...good. Nah, it was a great laugh, but it wasn't the best musical ever. It was just like the film really, cheesy, americaan and good music. Went for a few drinks before in this lovely bar, where you didn't know what was glass walls or mirrors, so the place felt massive. I was sitting on my barstool with a big grin on my face, due to the fact I was out, with friends, in London, with a glass of wine in one hand and some chips in the other. Ohhh, yes.
Got back at midnight and promised myself, I MUST go up to London more often. It really is just around the corner. 30 min on the train is nothing and the city truly never sleeps. It was so wonderful wandering through Covent Garden at night, with the old stone buildnings looking over you.

Seeing Lisa & Katie (with their girls) tomorrow for lunch, as it feels like I haven't seen them for ages. Then Louise over for a coffee about 3pm. She's about 7 months pregnant now and I cannot wait to see the little baby girl/boy. Its so much more exciting now when someone is pregnant, when you know what its all about. And you can watch from a distance, without hanging over the toilet puking your guts out.

Gotta keep tidying the house now...There's dust everywhere.

Over and out.

Nobody puts Baby in the corner

Ooooooh, can't believe it! I've been invited to the Theatre tonight. Sarah had a spare ticket for Dirty Dancing, showing at the Aldwych in London. Wow! Yes, please, I will be there with bells on, or maybe a lovely pink leotard?!

Christ, how many times did we watch that film? And how many times did we listen to the Soundtrack on our vinylrecords? I so fancied Patric Swayzey-Swaysey-whatever...

These arms of mine...
I'm a love man
I had the time of my life
Oooooh can't waaaait!

Going up on the train about 6 I think and I will update you all tomorrow on how many times I cried.

Gotta go now, wake little Elle, put on her Winter Overalls and head down to Wickford to get some food, as Tesco Delivery has cancelled their home delivery due to the dangerous road conditions...ITS 2 CENTIMETRES FOLKS...INVEST IN SOME WINTER TYRES AND GET A GRIP!!! *haha, excuse the pun*

Why I am a bad mum

Why I am a BAD MUM?

1. While feeding Ellen I managed to splat a grape-sized blob of "Peach & Banana pure" on her left eye. (Luckily she managed to shut her eye and just sat there wondering why she'd gone blind on one eye!) BAD MUM!
2. I was holding Ellen under her arms and was knealing down to reach into a cupboard to grab myself a Diet Coke, when I felt myself losing my balance and as controlled as a fall can be, I fell backwards like a Pilates roll with Ellen hanging vertically still in the same position as before I started to fall. So there I was, on my back, holding this baby straight up in the air... BAD MUM!
3. I propped her up as usual on the sofa with pillows all around her, looked away for 1 second to grab my cup of tea, and in the corner of my eye I see the back of her head dangerously near the edge of the sofa...I manage to catch the back of her sweater and pulled her back up before she swan-dived off the sofa head first...BAD MUM!
4. Because I drink red wine 3 nights a week?? BAD MUM? Alcoholic mum?
5. Because we jokingly talked about putting the baby monitor on in her room and bringing the parent unit of the baby monitor to the pub next door, haha, to see if we could still hear her?! Now, even thinking that is BAD!!! (Of course, for any of you who think we would, no chance!!! I simply smuggle her into the pub in my gym-bag and she lies under the table while we drink ourselves stupid!!! ;) )

Why I am a GOOD MUM?
1. Because I manage to get up at any time of the day or night to look after my Angel
2. Because I am healthy, fit and hysterically funny! Of course!
3. I can sing "One man went to mow" really really fast
4. Because I can change nappies in the dark
5. Because I can do almost anything with only one hand nowadays
6. Because I love her to bits and would do anything for her

Ebay

We constantly threat our older doggie Dak, Dakster Wakster, Waksterman, Wax, Dackie-Do, McWakster, Quackie... to sell him on Ebay when he howls for food or does something naughty. So today, we put up a "preview" listing that can go live anytime...

The weekend

Its Sunday and the sun is shining. We've been out in the garden all day, fixing fences, picking up sticks and rubbish from that lawn and generally just lazying around in the sunshine. It feels like Spring. 11 degrees and probably warmer in the sun. Ahhhh.

Have booked my trip home to Skelleftea now. On the 2nd of March I travel to see my sister (with family) and on the 4th I carry on upwards to see mum & dad. Can't wait.
Just hope the flights are ok with the little one.

Talking about little ones, she's just woken up. Gotta go. Will update more later on.

Cm7#maj9sus14

Just had to post some photos of the next Jimmy Hendrix. Ellen's first guitar-lesson!

She went for a super-tricky one-fingered chord: Cm7#maj9sus14

Stormy Days and Nights

Ok. So now I know what its really all about. Sleep depravation in its finest. Have had 2 hours sleep and feel like a ghost. Well I think now I am actually waking up slightly, surfing on adrenaline or something, whatever keeps a person going...

Ellen has decided its great fun to wake up every 30 minutes during the night to wimper and cry and as soon as we show our head in the door, she smiles at you and thinks its hilarous that she is awake. God knows why. Am going to try my best to keep her awake today, although I am struggling to keep myself awake.

Anyway, I cracked this morning after 4 hours of solid crying from her end. There is only so much you can take. And when you have tried everything, feeding, soothing, carrying, bopping round, singing, your body says: "NO! That's it. I am not moving anymore. I just want to lie down." Then that's where the trouble begins. Baby crying, my body and mind not operating anymore. Spoke to Steve on the phone and he brought me back down to planet earth. At the end of the day, its only crying...and its not going to go on forever, but when you're in it, it really feels like the world is about the go under.

So I am not the most wide-eyed person today.

After having spent yesterday looking after Ellen and working in between her naps, I was dead in the evening, and we went to bed at 10pm. Not sure I can cope with that today. Will see how it goes. At least the sun is shining today.

Now to the storm damage! The fun part!
My dear car was ever so lucky. One of our big fir trees decided to fall down and landed about 10 cm from the bonnet of my car. Thank the lord it wasn't one of the bigger trees or my car would have been a write-off. So here's a picture:

Then there was some damage to our carport. One of the panels flew off and landed on my bathroom fitters van. Luckily no damage to his van, phew.

He had apparently driven off last night with a strange clunking and banging noise coming from underneath the car, thinking that the exhaust was about the fall off. So this morning he drove into his local garage, and asked a mecanic to check it out. The mechanic took one look under the car and said: "I think this might be the problem", and pulled out half a tree! (not the tree in the picture below...)

A laughter that makes me cry

My little sunbeam is now laughing. And it's the most wonderful sound. Two days ago, in the bath, she started and what a laugh. It was like a little chuckle and oh how it melted my motherly heart. I honestly didn't know whether to laugh with her or to shed a tear. I think I did both.
So now she chuckles away when I blow raspberries on her neck or tickle her belly. Its so amazing.

So over and out for now.

Sunday

Oh nooo, now X factor has finished - Cringe factor is on tele. Celebrity Big Brother.
Jade's mum just makes me want to hide under the sofa. What on earth? And her "medication", I reckon its booze, man! Poor old Ken who had to leave.

Aaaanyway, god only knows how I got into that show...

Ellen's being a little angel at the mo. The last few days and nights she's been super. Like clockwork with her sleeping hours etc. Makes it nicer when we have our evenings back again. To know that at 8pm we can go downstairs and be "adults" again. Not having to run up and down to be "mummy and daddy" all the time.

Steve and Bob's gone to the pub for the quiz, with mad Harry the Hits bloody quizmaster. Hopefully Wednesday its Yummy Mummys turn again. I am just here drinking red wine (well it IS Sunday!) and eating Price-Sausages (leftover from Christmas).

Monday tomorrow. What does this week hold? Ehm...dentist on Thursday, whooopie scoopie.
Having a major sort out of the house. Going through drawers, cupboards etc and organising everything. Throwing loads of junk away and every day the house looks neater and tidier. Getting another cupboard put in, in the kitchen. The guy doing the bathrooms for us will fit it for me, which gives me more storage in the kitchen, which is great. Too many pots and pans.

Going to bed now. Greys anatomy has finished and I am getting ready for another 6am start tomorrow morning. Steve did the early shift this morning, but I still woke up at 8am which isn't exactly a lie-in.

God my life is so exciting isn't it. Whoever is reading this posting this evening, must be asleep by now. Sleep tight!

New bathroom

Before Pictures:

Yuk...

Oh nooo...

Don't wanna take a bath there...

and AFTER pictures:

Ooooohh

Ahhhh...

Oh yes!

Went to get some lovely Sanctuary stuff to fill the bathroom with. Soaps and bubbles and bits and bobs. Think I might sneak a bath tonight, while Steve's at football.
Just need to get some towels, mirrors etc in there. Its taken about 3 weeks to get it finished. Finally that hideous bath is gone, and hopefully the horrid spiders that used to lurk in there...

Over and out.
